Time for a Facelift!

In honor of my resolution to blog more frequently in 2009, I have given the blog a facelift. (I could also use one.) I can't believe it has been 10 months since I blogged. I started this blog a year ago to get my kids to post so I could keep up on the 'out-of-towners.' It has been moderately successful. Some are like their mother--they have great intentions but lack the time to follow through. Others are great. They also got me going on facebook and I can only handle one new piece of technology at a time.

Old Dogs Learn New Tricks

January 10, 2009. Great Barrier Reef. Cairns, Australia.

(My face looks better underwater hidden by a diving mask --cancel my facelift!) This was our first ever attempt at scuba diving. We are usually faint-hearted but since this was a chance of a lifetime we sucked it up and gave it a try. I enjoyed it, Steve endured it. The bright vibrant colors of the coral were exquisite. The entire experience was breathtaking-literally-as Steve accidentally(?) knocked my regulator out of my mouth 25 feet down. Our instructor, Andy (no relationship), saved me.

Our kids are still in shock that we actually took the plunge! Good thing we got pictures to prove it. We are not certified and probably won't dive again. We were 'resort certified' on the reef and were able to do a one hour shallow dive with an instructor.

We look like pro's but don't be fooled--note the arm link with our group. Steve is on the right and I am second from the left. Steve is petting "Wally"(no relationship). However, I couldn't pass up the 'I love Wally' T-shirt in honor of our Wally at home in Georgia.

More to come about Australia and New Zealand...
